Dusky EBM on new “Relative Strangers EP” from Downwell

Conjuring up dusky atmospheres and sinister moods, the new 4-track EP “Relative Strangers” from Downwell captures the menacing ritual aesthetic of industrial dance music from decades past.

Ominous soundscapes give way to swarming, frantic EBM basslines. More assertive techno productions like “Major Issues” charge forward on booming kicks and distorted vocals. Dark, prowling tracks like “It’s All Falling Apart” and “Relative Strangers” are driven by occult industrial percussion. Powered by stompy drums, harsh vocals, and metallic synth, “Dusk To Dawn” belongs in heavy rotation at any goth/industrial night.

Based in Tbilisi, DJ & producer Downwell has been releasing industrial techno since 2019 and is a regular at the Tbilisi‘s club KHIDI.

Brought to you by Persephonic Sirens, a label run by Ancient Methods, a long-time curator and advocate for music that pays tribute to EBM’s origins. Out now on Bandcamp, this release is also available on 12” white marbled vinyl for €12 in the Persephonic Sirens store.
