It’s the last Friday of the month, time to buy music.
This winter weather has meant more time indoors, but also the return of an old favorite: driving around and listening to music. I’ve got a couple of new playlists in the works for the Structures and Drift mixtapes, and they have brought peace to my commute.
I’m still trying to spend time outside, even with the cold, and my inbox has been the theme to my long, meandering walks. I spent a little time in nature one day, and wandered across snowy Brooklyn with an ambient soundtrack on another. It feels like I made some warm weather picks.
Here are my Bandcamp recommendations for January 2026.

Rave Prescription
by Four To Eight on Obscuur Records
Hard techno, amped-up rave, and hard trance. Peak time or freak time.
Favorite tracks:
- Track 1, “Grind It” – Thumpin rave and hard techno.
- Track 2, “Funky Pills” – Glitched hard techno, dark acid. Punchy, heavy duty.
Ask Yourself
by Sintex Bortexx on Samo Records
Your Attention, Please 📢 This 6-track EP on NYC-based Samo Records features three originals by the Argentinian duo Sintex Bortexx, and three guest remixes. All the originals are great, and the remixes are too.
A tense, but groovy neo-noir soundtrack. New Beat, EBM, and dark disco tracks, interwoven with radio chatter and creeping, clandestine synths.
Favorite tracks:
- Track 1, “Ask Yourself” – Gritty, cybernetic New Beat.
- Track 5, “Tango Romeo Alpha (Tutto Vetro Remix)” – Darkwave, body music. Lean, groovy. Curses remix.
- Track 6, “Contact Radar (Charlie Remix)” – Dark electro and dark disco, with aggrotech radio chatter.
Floral Oceans
by Aiden Francis on Haŵs
Huge sounds packed into this 4-track EP. Pulsing tech-trance, with big clubby beats, and pumped-up rave energy. Out just last month on Haŵs.
“Stunnalina” is definitely the big, amped-up single; but I love how the title track “Floral Oceans” opens the record and sets the tone. This is the soundtrack for warping back to a time when the world was rendered in 32-bits.
Favorite tracks:
- Track 1, “Floral Oceans” – Tech trance. Upbeat, echoing, female vocal sample.
- Track 3, “Stunnalina” – Pumpin tech-trance, tech house, and acid trance.
- Track 2, “Nelumbo” – Spaced out, positive vibes. Shimmering, clubby, pumped up tech trance.

Shortlist
First Session EP
by Trudge on Molekül
Weird and rough. Slammin’ dark acid and hardgroove techno.
Favorite tracks:
- Track 3, “I’m Not Doing That” – Raw, dark, hardgroove techno banger.
- Track 2, “Negative Affirmations” – Tense & creeping, mid-tempo dark acid techno.
All i want is you
by Tyrell Corporation vs Italoconnection on Moustache Records
This collaboration between The Tyrell Corporation and Italoconnection is quintessential Italo Disco. With big, boosted neon synthpop leads, a dark disco bassline, and burning new wave vocals.
El Fantasma / El Espíritu
by Fort Romeau & Gold Panda on Permanent Vacation
Interesting 2-track split single on Permanent Vacation. Dark, dubby, dreamy, deconstructed house. Glitched, melodic, tech-y IDM, and garage that makes me nostalgic for the summer of Origami Sound.
Favorite track:
- Track 2, “El Espíritu” – Stripped down and simple. Deep and hypnotic, a melodic techno roller. Minimal, with a pulsing, acoustic, lo-fi groove. This track is 7 minutes, and you could definitely loop it and wind up listening to it for an hour.
