WeaponsFM is Back and in Public Beta

Hey it’s blackmask. I’m back for the summer and excited to announce that after a stretch in stealth mode, WeaponsFM is launching our public beta. More than 500 pages of content on the site are now public, including blog posts, featured releases, the mixtape archive, and artist & label profiles. If you requested an artist or promoter account during the private beta, we’ll have more info coming next month.

If this is your first time here, thanks for checking out the site. – WeaponsFM is an art, music, and culture project that explores electronic music and themes, with a focus on dark / industrial / techno sounds and aesthetics. This website is part blog, part zine, part archive. We feature our favorite new releases and mixtapes, and showcase our favorite DJs, producers, publishers, and promoters. We’re building a platform to help music collectors dig around in the crates and find their next favorite track.

Before making this beta version of the site public, I wanted to add a few months’ worth of posts to demonstrate how different types of content look and work together. We’ve got themed playlists, monthly charts, and hundreds of our favorite albums and artists. Over the next few months, I plan on really diving in to writing reviews, curating playlists, and keeping an eye out for events. There’s another DISPATCH mixtape coming in September, and some EBM on the way after that.

As we gather feedback, we’ll be making improvements to the page layouts and site features to make music discovery easier. We’re also really excited to test out the data layer and put it to work while expanding the site content. We hope to build out the next version of this site as a mobile-first web app, as soon as we’re confident with our back-end architecture. If you’re an artist, DJ, label, or promoter curious about how to get involved, we plan on rolling out a limited number of artist and promoter accounts in September, with profile edit access, comments, chat invites, and more.
